  19. Description of Working Group:
  20. This Working Group was chartered to extend the RFC 822 Message format to
  21. facilitate multi-media mail and alternate character sets.  RFCs 1341
  22. and RFC 1342 document the Multi-Media Extensions for Internet Mail.
  23.  
  24. The Working Group will work to progress MIME to Draft Standard status
  25. and provide a forum for the review of standards track content-type
  26. specifications and the review of character set extensions to MIME.
  27.  
  28.  Goals and Milestones: 
  29.  
  30.      Done Review the Charter, and refine the Group's focus. Decide whether this
  31.           is a worthwhile effort.                                              
  32.  
  33.      Done Discuss, debate, and choose a framework for the solution.            
  34.           Assign writing assignments, and identify issues to be resolved.      
  35.  
  36.      Done Review exiting writing, resolve outstanding issues, identify         
  37.           new work, and work toward a complete document.                       
  38.  
  39.      Done Post a first Internet Draft.                                         
  40.  
  41.      Done Review and finalize the draft document.                              
  42.  
  43.      Done Submit the document as a Proposed Standard.                          
  44.  
  45.      Done Post an Internet Draft for the use of Japanese Characters for 
  46.           Internet Mail.                                                       
  47.  
  48.      Done Post a revised version of the MIME document as an Internet Draft.

  50.    Mar 93 Submit the revised MIME document to the IESG for consideration as a 
  51.           Draft Standard.

  53.    Mar 93 Submit the Japanese Character set specification as an Informational 
  54.           document.
